The History of Professional Auto Body
When Professional Auto Body first
opened in 1973, by Tye’s father Ralph Gruss, it was a small one man
operation. Utilizing a converted house, Ralph began to grow his
business one customer at a time, seeking to provide quality
service and customer satisfaction.
In 1979, Tye came to work for his
father, learning the business from every aspect. As the years
passed and the business grew, changes were made to ensure the
ability for continued growth and success, while never losing sight
of the core value of quality and service. Along the way as demand
grew, qualified technicians became an important part of the
business.

In 1997 Tye’s wife Laura joined the business as office
manager, as Ralph Gruss began to think about retirement.
Professional Auto Body has since grown to employ more than 7 full
and part time employees.
Over the years, as technology changed
the way vehicles were repaired, Tye set out to keep Professional
Auto Body ahead of the game. Computerized estimating systems, state
of the art Paint Mixing Technology, down draft Spray Booth, and
Laser Guided Measuring and Frame equipment, were all purchased to
certify the proper repair of all customers’ vehicles. Tye continues
to upgrade his repair equipment as necessary to ensure a proper and
cost effective repair process.
In 1999, Professional Auto Body had
finally outgrown its original facility. A new building was
purchased 3 blocks from the original site, and construction began on
the current 5,000 square foot plus facility. After 8 months of
construction, all equipment was moved to the new facility, along
with a new spray booth, scissor lift, and updated Laser Guided
Measuring System.

Today, as Professional Auto Body
continues to grow, Tye and Laura Gruss remain unceasing in their
desire to keep the core value of Quality & Service
that began so many years ago.
